The Old Way of Web Design Is Out….Here’s What’s In
I’m going to be so real with you right now! The old model of web design just isn’t cutting it anymore. You know the one: you hire a designer, they build your site on a platform you’ve never heard of, hand you the keys, and then you’re stuck paying them every time you want to change a photo or update your hours.
That era is over.
For years, web design operated on a “set it and forget it” model for the designer, not for you. You’d end up with a site that looked nice but required coding knowledge or backend access you didn’t have. That meant one of two things: you either paid monthly for maintenance you didn’t really need, or you stopped updating your site altogether. The problem wasn’t you, it was the system.
Now, we have platforms like Squarespace and Wix that make it easy for business owners to take ownership of their websites. These tools are built for accessibility and autonomy.
At Anitrix Creative, I build every site with you in mind: your comfort level, your time, and your long-term goals. Some clients want a site they’ll never have to touch again, and that’s fine. Others want to manage blogs, shops, or updates themselves. Either way, I make sure the platform and structure fit your goals. Design isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is your business.
I don’t believe in forcing you onto a platform that doesn’t fit your needs or skill level. If you want something simple and easy to edit, we’ll go with Squarespace. If you need flexibility and growth potential, WordPress might be the move. If you want an all-in-one setup with built-in SEO tools, Wix could be perfect. My job is to make your life easier, not add another password or process you dread logging into.
Before you hire a web designer, here are a few questions worth asking to make sure they’re the right fit:
What platform do you design on and why? Look for an answer based on your goals, not theirs.
Will I be able to make small updates myself after launch? If they hesitate, that’s a red flag.
Do you provide training or documentation for managing my site? A good designer empowers you, not gatekeeps your access.
How do you handle ongoing maintenance or updates? You should have the option to hire support only when you need it.
How will you ensure the design aligns with my audience and goals? A strategic designer will talk about user experience, not just aesthetics.
The future of web design is collaborative, flexible, and client-led. Gone are the days of confusing dashboards, surprise fees, and total dependency on your designer. You deserve a site that works for you, one you can proudly show off and actually use.
If you’re ready for a site that feels like you and functions the way you need it to, let’s talk.
